It has become cold in the morning. My outside activities become attenuated.
Perhaps I will spend some time, typing to the void.

We take Electronic Junk apart, the parts are still mostly good, although the product has failed.
It is very sketchy But I see a future for 'one of a kind' hand made electronic philosophical instruments & toys.

Sorting and identifying found electronic parts is a nice pass time for me when I am not an intelligent designer. This last summer was progressive for developing design procedures.
I don't believe everything that can be done with a few parts has been done yet, or will ever be.
The break thru was realizing the constraints for mass production don't apply to hand craft.
I am retired, let buying and selling be far from my center of interest. There is allowed a whimsical approach to making art that is not generally catered to by an engineering education.
So while studying the text books I am vigilant to avoid constraints not applicable to what I am attempting to do.

The new "Next Blog" Feature Is bug as far as I am concerned.

Google in its asymptotic artificial wisdom associates me with other artists, None of the many i looked at do i appreciate or want to be associated with. I was happier before with the random diversity.

There is more here than pictures.

In general the popularity criterion for search is a successful market strategy, yet I would like a way to eliminate the ad based eyeball grabbers; Googles bread & butter, when I am trying to get information pertaining to my interests.

Expecting me to enjoy being served to sellers when I am not shopping is foolish.

Television should set a bad example.

I have a notion that the amount of art work stashed away by elder artists who haven't been very aggressive about getting representation in galleries or self promotion is surprisingly huge.

As well as liquidation of estates of the deceased.

I tried to imagine how it would go to split my collection of my own work with an investor. Because the work is packed away ( I live in a small place) getting it out to sort thru for say, a 50% 50% split with one investor collector would require much work and time also more space to get it all in one place where we could see it. As it is crammed in to nooks and craneys now. Collectors in the conventional art market are used to being treated as royalty, so I had to imagine a collector who would enjoy working on this project more than I would.

The result will be like a joint stock company. Each stock holder can split up the stock they have any way convenient. I am already anticipating what it will feel like with half of my collection somebody else's responsibility.

I say: Much of our social interactions in the U.S.A. are infected with a refusal that we have a class system at all. When it is discussed the nomenclature is either based in a British or European model or among intellectuals: Blatantly Marxist ( proletariat, bourgeoisie,) terms are used. One clever aspect of the Quintiles is; each division is 20% of the whole income producers. I have been reading this book. I am half way thru, the need to remark is urgent. From the point of view of a word person the argument makes good sense. As a Art maker: I don,t see getting attention, as sufficient or necessary to create say; a painting. Inner necessity is essential. About 20 years ago I realized there is no market for my art. This is on the basis of having a father who did Merchandising big time. By watching him work I could see what it takes to move product.

By watching myself I could see i don't have the right stuff for that.

I don't think most art lovers have an idea of the amount of life work of deceased artists going to the land fill. Few made enough money to provide for storage to take the test of time. Sadder still are the trials of families who try to promote the work. The current market insists on the appearance of scarcity of good work.

The reality is that there is vast surplus.

Why can't we have big wholesale liquidaters for Fine Art? I understand the strategy of liquidaters is to mark up a set amount from a better than the dump price. Guessing what the market will bear is no problem. Every thing must go!!

I have also read a lot about the latest in Physics & Mathematics. Yet I can't buy into it as Non Euclidian math is less real than my paintings. I think Newton started it by vanishing Polygons;

PRINCIPIA Book 1 Section 1 Lemma VI is a good example.

I remember that a point has no dimension.

It has location by relativity. You can imagine points lined up adjacent to each other in sequence, Then say: this is a line, but that becomes a non-Euclidian Geometry. This is the start of the " May I put my hand on your knee?" theory. Bit by bit it creeps up your leg until the hand is where you never gave permission. The trick is assuming that one can imagine infinitely large or small. Sorry! From my position of humble modesty you can't, Unless you are infinite. Then you have become religious which is OK with me but it ain't Science.

The following is what i say;

I am a painter who reads a lot about science. I play with electronics as a hobby as scrounged parts are free.

Following "Common Sense" I see Science & Art is first Marketing. Nothing happens until the sale is made! Investors, Institutions, Political interests, Religious & cultural sensitivities must be considered. The common people are convinced Price = Value.

The consequence is Information about science & art is all too often a thinly disguised press release or in the style of grant request. I have to smile if they are appealing to me for funding the next Super Collider.

The big difference is that everybody feels confident to judge art. If you like it and can afford it you buy it. If you don't: say it is interesting or 'Not my cup of tea'.
Science takes a bite from my taxes no one asks what I like.

In science only credentialed peers are entitled to opinions.

I do believe that modern science needs the intuitive perspective an artists develops by practice. But both worlds are insanely competitive: It ain't going to happen.

When I look at Art Magazines at the newsstand I am usually affronted by the obvious expense to hype work that is over exposed. I have not followed the market for art with anything but despair and disgust for a long time. "It is not the art or the artist but who is backing them". ( I read that in _Art News_ Years ago).

I think many people must make art on the basis of what they see as trends, because I have no idea anymore of what is original or derivative. I suspect that the Business of art makes much more money from artists than collectors. All the consultants and advisors on how to make money making art may not even all be making money. I see a lot of Galleries here in Santa Fe come and go in too short a time to have been at all successful.

Postmodernism, Shock, and Performance in place of Painting & Drawing & Photography is a invasion of aggressive barbarians into a formerly quiet contemplative territory.

I have problem: I still have an EGO but old fashioned morals; Some dignity, some respect for behaving like a gentleman is necessary to my self respect.

If i am too proud to compete in the false art market i get no recognition for accomplishment. Has a logical flaw.

Work Bench

Electronics is a hobby; I dabble; there are lots of incomplete projects. Scrounging and trying to organize parts is the first limiting factor, then deciding priority of all the vague projects that may occur in reverie mind space.

Getting something projected done requires focus and uninterrupted time.

The workshop separate from the house only has wood heat. In the winter all progress stops out there. The ideas of what i could do continues. Because there is so much old broken or obsolete Electronic stuff for salvaging parts the possibilities of what i could do expand to the impossible.

Age and experience are an advantage to cultivate an easy going patience. Nevertheless there is also an anticipation that gets too anxious at times.

Since I am going on about ART you may want to see what I have done.

This one only exists as a Digital file. Using digital photos as Paint. I get involved in the limitations & features of Painter 8, The process is like problem solving, moving adding subtracting until it becomes itself.

By now I shouldn't be surprised that many people 100 years later, don't get nonobjective art. I try to imagine the impression my disinterest in sports & games has on people who are vitally enthused by recreation.

Again I feel the need to go on about Amateur & Professional: but not now.

Also re-Creation, re-Production, Illustration; as necessary but not sufficient to be all there is to painting, drawing kind of Art. But later...

I often have to wonder at what people believe.

I am joking: They take it seriously. Really I am not kidding!

I try to be convincing: Ha Ha! No credibility.

So At the beginning of Jons Blog experiment - - - I claim no Authority.

Also be warned writing is not easy for me.

I read a lot & promiscuously. The consequence is questions and arguments with professional writers. Like digging a hole in the ground to yell frustration in to, this blog is.

The wise Refuse a battle of wits with an unarmed person. I see public arguments in print. I want to participate. I recognize i can't make a good show.

Appearance may be deceiving. As a painter, Photographer I have .. say 50 years experience thinking about how things look. I very seldom tried to write about visual philosophy. That would be about visual knowledge or perhaps visual wisdom.

The wisdom that accrues from experience. Time tested. How my writing looks is bad to me.

Most painting, drawing, Photography I see on the web is bad to ordinary or "Professional"

(I will have more to say by what I mean by 'Professional' later.)

I do appreciate seeing what artists without large financial interests pushing them are doing. But I have spent too much time pursuing a idea of what an artist was 50 years ago; to see it has vanished. I don't care to encourage the futile hope of discovery that art schools nourish. Yet there is a lot offered as what it is & that is OK.

Since I read so much; No Movies; No T.V. I intend to write what I haven't read.

How long do you think it took to write this?
